The Fredericton Community Foundation is pleased to announce a new scholarship. The Frank Fraser Joslin and Blanche I. (Hood) Joslin Scholarship provides a substantial scholarship to a resident York County student graduating from a York County high school and entering agricultural college/university or veterinarian college/university. Please see Guidance for further information.

 Mount Saint Vincent University will be hosting an open house on February 26th, 2014. On the spot admissions as well as class visits are available during this time. If you are interested please see Mr. Gallop in Guidance to register.

 St Mary’s University will be holding open houses for Science on February 14, Business on February 28th and Arts on March 7, 2014. These events require pre-registration.  On the spot admission will also be conducted on these dates as well. If you have any further questions please see Mr. Gallop in Guidance.

 Students are parents are invited to the Transition to UNB Fredericton student and parent information evening Monday, February 24, 2014, 7pm at the Wu Conference Centre. Do you have questions or want to find out what university will be like? Are you just a little worried about this next step? Come and have your questions answered about things such as programs, time and budget management, campus life, financial aid and scholarships, next steps and lots more.  Bruce VanStone, Anti bullying coordinator for the Province of New Brunswick is holding a Youth Conference on February 25, 2014 from 5-8pm at the Delta Fredericton. This will be a chance to discuss bullying issues in our schools. Please see Mr. Gallop in Guidance to sign up.

 

Center for Arts and Technology in Fredericton has a Digital BootCamp deadline approaching quickly; all applications must be received by February 27, 2014. Seats are limited and our missions are almost full!

Don’t forget about your Golden Tickets! Golden Tickets can only be issued to Grade 11 or 12 students. Mission selections are on a first come first serve basis, so it’s important to have completed applications in as soon as possible. Due to capacity reasons we are only accepting Golden Tickets for the following Digital BootCamp missions:

Solve Your Debts Scholarships

Learning financial skills is crucial to future financial freedom. Since 2004 Credit Counselling Services of Atlantic Canada, Inc. (CCSAC) has awarded $115,000 to students across Atlantic Canada. With several $1,000 scholarships available annually, we continue to provide students with the tools to minimize their post-secondary debt and to use credit wisely. Our scholarship is released in January of the following year that it is awarded.

CCSAC Scholarships are open to residents of Atlantic Canada (regardless of age) who will be enrolled in an accredited post-secondary program in the up-coming academic year.

The Lutz/Lutes Mountain Heritage Foundation Inc, in conjunction with the Michael Lutz(1766) Descendants are pleased to announce the Lutz/Lutes Family Scholarship for 2014.  This scholarship, valued at $1,000.00, is awarded annually to a deserving highschool student who will use said award towards the costs of furthering their education at an accredited college, university or other educational institution in Atlantic Canada. Michael Smith Science Challenge

The Michael Smith Science Challenge is a national competition written by students in Grade 10 Science or lower. It emphasizes logical thinking, and covers material in the science curriculum common to all provinces. It is named in honour of UBC's Nobel Prize Winner Dr. Michael Smith, and is sponsored by the UBC faculty of Science and NSERC PromoScience. Prizes are awarded to the top students (and their teachers) in each province and nationally.

Any Grade 10 Nackawic High students that are interested in writing this test please se Mr. Gallop in Guidance. Cost is $5 and the test will be written on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 from 1-2pm.

 

Oulton College will be hosting an Evening Information Session on February 18th, 2014 at the Best Western in Woodstock from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. This information session will be advertised on the radio so it is open to students, parents, and the public. They  will be giving a brief presentation on the need to know information such as tuition, how to apply, scholarships, and the general admissions procedure. They will also be answering any questions that people may have about Oulton College. 

 

 

The Explore program applications have arrived in the Guidance office. This program is for students who are turning 16 by the first of summer and allows students to live with and learn from a French family for the summer. This 5 week program is almost completely funded by the government is a fantastic opportunity for travel.

STU will be at NHS on February 11, 2014 to complete on the spot admissions. Any Grade 12 students that are interested in applying to STU need to have a completed application and a copy of their transcript and sign up in Guidance. STU is waiving the application fee for this event. 

All Nackawic High students are reminded that course changes can be completed during exam week. Students are encouraged to drop into Guidance during this time to avoid the rush at the beginning of Semester 2. All course changes must be completed by Monday, February  3, 2014.

NHS is conducting Grade 12 Portfolio Interviews on January 15 and 16, 2014 for all Grade 12 English students. The interview times are posted in the main lobby. Good luck Grade 12's!!!!

Green shaded programs have lots of seats remaining and orange colored programs only have a few seats. If the program you are looking at is not there, it means it is full and has a waiting list.
